Newcastle Law School Students on Legal Internship in the Cook Islands
The Newcastle Law School has recently been featured in a press release from the Cook Islands Office of the Public Service Commissioner
Dr Kevin Sobel-Read, Newcastle Law School Lecturer, is currently in the Cook Islands with eleven law students on an International Work Placement. Dr Sobel-Read and the students are in Rarotonga partially funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) New Colombo Plan. The law students are completing three week placements at a number of government agencies including the Ministries of Justice, Health, Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Police, Infrastructure, Finance and Office of the Public Service Commissioner.
The objective of this experience is to provide Newcastle Law School students with a first-hand experience of legal practice and culture that is productive and relevant across Polynesia and the Indo-Pacific region. The Faculty of Business and Law is proud to partner with the Government in providing experiences such as this for students.
