The 2015 Lucy Mentoring Program Launch
The Lucy Mentoring Program for 2015 has officially commenced.
The participating mentors and student mentees had the opportunity to meet for the first time during Session 1, which was held at the Hunter Design School. The evening was a great success as the student mentees shared their aspirations, goals and interests; and mentors provided insight to opportunities and ways to achieve career objectives. The mentors and mentees also established their mentoring program, pinpointing the activities the student will undertake during the 35 hours spent in their mentor's workplace.
The Faculty of Business and Law has facilitated the Lucy Mentoring Program since 2007. The program aims to address the inequities women face in the workplace, such as the underrepresentation of women on boards and the gender pay gap. The program aims to address the inequities through the mentor's provision of career related experiences, coaching, and support, thus positively impacting the student mentees' career planning and development by providing career clarity and improving self-confidence.
The time and insights the participating mentors generously share is greatly valued by the student mentees and the wider university community. The merits of the leadership program are well recognised among the Faculty of Business and Law female student population, with a significant number of mentee applications for the 2015 program. The Faculty of Business and Law is working hard to increase industry involvement to meet the needs of future students, and welcome any interest in future mentoring from professionals working in the business and legal fields.
