Gold Street Studios

Gold Street Studios, who are based in Trentham East, Victoria, are conducting photographic masterclasses for Bachelor of Fine Art Photomedia students masterclasses during this week Thursday 18 August to Sunday 21 August. Website

Gold Street Studios provides an inspirational resource for photographic image makers offering workshops to inspire, challenge and educate.  The workshops conducted by Gold Street Studios attract local, interstate and international participants wishing to understand and enjoy the art, craft and science of creating hand made photographs from professional instructors.

The gallery acquisitions of Gold Street Studios reflects the hand made traditional photographic processes offered in the workshops, holding photographs from recognised Australian and International photographic artists.
Running from Thursday 18 August to Sunday 21 August, undergraduate, honours and post graduate students, together with Photomedia staff, will participate in workshops exploring processes such as Tin Types, Carbon Printing, Wet Plate Collodion and Salt Prints.  These historical photo processes are being rediscovered by contemporary artists across the world.

This innovative series of masterclasses is funded by a travel scholarship awarded to Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) student, Ryan Fitzgerald.  Ryan was enthusiastic to share these processes with other Fine Art students and invited Gold Street Studios to the University of Newcastle.  Along with 4 days of intensive instruction in the workshops, Gold Street Studios will present an exhibition of images from their gallery detailing these processes.
The support in sponsoring the visit by Gold Street Studios by the School of Creative Arts is anticipated to become an annual event highlighting and fostering industry partnerships.
