The University of Newcastle is pleased to announce the commencement of Professor Roberta Ryan, as Professor of Local Government, in the Faculty of Business and Law. Roberta brings extensive experience in applied public policy and research, with a particular strength working with local governments around Australia and internationally.
Her work compliments and will extend the efforts of the Hunter Research Foundation Centre and focuses upon strategically positioning local governance as key to ongoing regional prosperity, and mediating and facilitating policy, through community and sector-led outcomes. Professor Ryan will continue our regional and global impact research supporting the vital role of local governments as enablers of economic and social transition.
Professor Ryan has commented “I am delighted to have this opportunity to work closely with the local government sector, translating the University of Newcastle research into local and global impact. I look forward to engaging broadly across the University, harnessing the extensive expertise within the University of Newcastle to realise significant benefit to the region and beyond.”
