Polymer science PhD student wins prestigious ATSE award
University of Newcastle PhD student, Zachary Di Pietro, has been recognised at the prestigious Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) awards for outstanding work in polymer science.
Announced on Thursday night, Zachary received the Ezio Rizzardo Polymer Scholarship, which celebrates the potential impact of exceptional PhD candidates in polymer science or engineering.
Zachary’s research focuses on developing new low-friction polymer coatings designed to improve the reliability, durability, and energy efficiency of medical devices, transport machinery, and other applications.
Zachary was among just six researchers nationwide recognised in the annual ATSE awards, which highlight Australia’s leading scientists and engineers driving innovations with real-world impact.
