On September 30th, I had the pleasure of attending the Ageing , Art, and Creativity symposium hosted at the Q building of the University of Newcastle. The symposium was attended by Researchers, Elderly Care Practitioners, students and members from the community of Newcastle. The registered number of attendees were 60 with many travelling interstate to attend.

The University of Newcastle is leading transformative change in rural and regional education, which is one thing that attracted proud Wiradjuri woman, Millie Mills, to the University.

The University of Newcastle will lead a national research program aiming to transform Australia’s health prevention system and reduce the chronic disease burden.

Giving back to the communities we’re part of is very important to us. Providing scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people studying health degrees enables us to make a practical difference in the lives of people living in regional and remote communities.

The late Professor Daphne Keats was a distinguished staff member of the University of Newcastle who spearheaded the study of cross-cultural psychology in Australia. Her trailblazing efforts continue through a generous bequest to establish the Daphne Keats Chair in Cross-Cultural Psychology.

On Thursday 26 September 2024, the Centre for Law and Social Justice led a delegation of Hunter high school students to NSW Parliament.
