Substantial grant awarded in the fight against ovarian cancer
Professor Pradeep Tanwar and his team have studied women with a family history of ovarian cancer to identify a blood-based protein biomarker that could help save the lives of millions of ovarian cancer patients around the world.
The group has been awarded $595,000 by the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) to validate this biomarker in a large cohort of patients so that this novel technology can be brought to the fore in the battle against ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynaecological cancer, largely due to high rates of late diagnosis.
This work aims to establish methods for detection of early-stage ovarian cancer.
