Recommended genAI tools

The University provides free enterprise access to Microsoft Copilot for both staff and students. When logged in through the University, users receive data security that covers anything shared with Copilot, whether in a prompt or uploaded as an attachment. This can provide greater certainty around uploading copyright works, as they are more likely to be covered under licensing or a copyright exception, as well as security for your own work.

The other endorsed tool at the University is Studiosity's Writing Feedback+ tool. This tool provides students with feedback on their assessments and is also data-secure.  As Writing Feedback+ only generates guidance for where students can improve their assessment submission (and doesn't make any changes to the work), it can be recommended even where assessments wouldn't otherwise allow for the use of a genAI tool.

See the accordions for Copilot, using your own materials, and data security above for more information.
