About Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith

Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith is an astrophysicist, science communicator and was presenter on ABC’s hit television show ‘Stargazing Live’. She has published more than 50 research papers on the birth and death of stars and supermassive black holes. She served as Australia’s Women in STEM Ambassador from 2018-2024 and played a leading role in the design and operation of world-leading astronomical observatories at CSIRO.

She is currently a Professor of Practice at UNSW and ambassador for Future You – a national STEM education program based at the University of New South Wales. Lisa has won the CSIRO Chairman’s Medal and the Australian Museum Eureka Prize. Her award-winning science books are loved by children around the world.

This event is open to all curious minds, from young explorers to lifelong learners. It is a family-friendly event for all ages.
