Cogniti for Rubric Creation

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Use the Rubric Design Cogniti Agent to generate a first-draft assessment rubric for one of their own assessment tasks, by working through the agent's structured interview.
• Explain how the agent constructs a rubric, including how it derives assessment criteria that are constructively aligned to Course Learning Outcomes and builds performance descriptors across the Pass to High Distinction range.
• Evaluate the draft rubric the agent produces, identifying where descriptors need refining, where contextual or disciplinary relevance is missing, and how criterion weightings should be set.
• Apply their own disciplinary expertise to adapt the draft into a rubric that is fit for purpose, transparent for students, and supportive of consistent marking.
• Discuss the benefits and limitations of using a GenAI agent for rubric design, including the staff member's responsibility for reviewing and editing the final rubric before use.
