Entropy Awakening
Entropy Awakening presents an immersive multimedia exploration of a world of First Nations sovereignty. It traces themes of colonialism, justice, and First Nations futurisms through Travis De Vries’ artistic expression: from his graphic novel study Cook Falling (Tear it Down) (2019) to his recent digital artwork Entropy Awakening (2022), the product of a research collaboration with Dr Marie Hadley.
Entropy Awakening is a vibrant collection of provocative artworks, graphic novel extracts and multimedia visuals, set to a sonic response by composer and percussionist Adam Manning. The exhibition is equally influenced by the revolutionary Gamilaroi superhero of Travis’ graphic novel and the symbolic effects of law in regulating the graffiti of statues of historical figures linked to colonialism during the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020.
