LDTI’s AI Sector Voices sessions include guest presentations from experts and practitioners on a variety of GenAI and Education topics.

LDTI is pleased to welcome the Charles Sturt University’s Associate Professor Mark Bassett (Director Academic Quality, Standards and Integrity and Academic Lead Artificial Intelligence) for a discussion of the use of AI detection software.

Mark will be discussing findings from his recent paper (Heads we win, tails you lose: AI detectors in education) on the use of AI detectors in education, outlining how these tools work and the practical limits of what they can reliably show.

The paper explores implications for academic integrity processes, including considerations of evidence, procedural fairness, and data security in assessment contexts.

This session is intended for academic staff but may be applicable to anyone with an interest in how GenAI may be used with education.
