Community groups
University of Newcastle Student's Association (UNSA)
UNSA is the University of Newcastle Students' Association. UNSA run workshops, activities and events and manage student clubs and societies. They also have a Student Representative Council that represents student interests.
They have a building at Callaghan campus (AE) open to all students. Here they provide free food, professional kitchen facilities, a coffee machine, gaming equipment and more!
Clubs and societies
The University has over 100 of them registered and supported by UNSA. There’s bound to be a group of like-minded people for you to meet and bond with, and you can join as many clubs as you like! Browse the clubs directory and get in touch with the clubs that interest you. Many clubs have social media pages where they advertise their events and activities.
Uni Crew Volunteers
Uni Crew is the University of Newcastle's student volunteering program. Being a volunteer is a wonderful way of helping the University and broader community. It’s also a terrific benefit to yourself – both personally and professionally.
Volunteering provides opportunities to make new friends and add to your university experience outside the classroom.
Career Programs
Make a World of Difference, Career Connect and iLEAD are free programs available to all students. They are run by the University’s Careers Service. These programs include free workshops and events to develop your career skills.
Make a world of difference is a program that support you to navigate and understand the Australian workplace. Career Connect helps you develop the skills employers are looking for. Connect with extra-curricular activities, reflect on your experiences, and build your resume. iLEAD is a program to help you develop your leadership skills and confidence.
Each of these programs will help you develop your skills outside the classroom and prepare you for your future career.
