City of Newcastle International Student Ambassador Program
The City of Newcastle International Student Ambassador Program is a year-long leadership initiative that connects current international students and recent graduates with their community, giving you the platform to lead, advocate, and grow.

Running from June 2026 to June 2027, City of Newcastle International Student Ambassador Program is a partnership between the City of Newcastle, the University of Newcastle, the University of Newcastle College of International Education, and TAFE NSW Newcastle campuses and Study NSW. Ambassadors act as community advocates, helping to shape programs and initiatives that support international student life in the region.
This is a voluntary role with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month. For full details on responsibilities, benefits, and eligibility, please refer to the Program Guidelines.
As an Ambassador, you can expect to:
- Build leadership and professional communication skills
- Grow your network through industry, community, and career events
- Gain hands-on experience planning and delivering a cultural or community event
- Add meaningful volunteering and leadership experience to your CV
- Receive a certificate of completion and formal recognition of your contribution.
The program is open to current international students and recent graduates (within the past two years) from the University of Newcastle, the University of Newcastle College of International Education, or TAFE NSW Newcastle campuses.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over and hold a valid student or post-study work visa for the duration of the program.

Successful first-round applicants will be invited to an interview within two weeks of the closing date. All applicants will be notified of the outcome via email.
