2014 Alumni Awards: Nominations Now Open
Nominations are now open for the 2014 Alumni Awards. Presented annually by the Alumni Advisory Committee, the awards recognise innovation, creativity, exceptional leadership and those who inspire others through their local, national and international achievements.
The awards celebrate alumni across eight categories including professional excellence, cultural life, community services, regional, national and international leadership, Indigenous and young alumni.
Last year UON recognised 10 outstanding achievers including Emeritus Professor Ross Watts, co-founder of the Journal of Accounting & Economics, which frequently ranks number one worldwide in the citation counts for accounting journals; internationally-renowned fashion and portrait photographer Karin Catt; former member of NSW Parliament the Honourable Patricia Forsythe; and Senior Vice-President of Music at Twentieth Century Fox, Anton Monsted, to name just a few.
This year the awards celebrate our 'gamechangers' – the unconventional thinkers, the challengers, the people who push boundaries and see possibilities.
The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Wednesday 10 September at Newcastle City Hall and our office will be in touch about tickets in due course.
Nominations close Friday 23 May 2014. I encourage you to nominate graduates you feel are worthy of recognition and to spread the word about nominations around your Faculty/Division. Nomination packs can be downloaded here.
Please get in touch with our office if we can assist in any way.
