Year 11 Business Plan Challenge

The 15th annual Year 11 Business Plan Challenge final proved to be another great success with all participants and attendees commenting on how interesting and rewarding the day was. It was also wonderful to see so much support from our University colleagues on the day, and the friendly interaction between audience, judges and finalists.

Our four finalist schools battled it out bravely before a prestige judging panel competing for a first prize of $2000 cash and a UoN scholarship offer. The three runners-up received $1,000 cash each with all finalist’s schools receiving $500 per school.

All four business plans presented were extremely impressive with the judges commenting on the innovation and planning detail shown by all.  An underlying theme of sustainability was also evident in all business proposals, making judging extremely difficult.

After much debate and unprecedented deliberation by the judging panel, the announcement of Augusta Bothma from Pacific Hills Girls Christian School as the 2018 winner made Augusta an extremely happy student.

Augusta’s winning plan - “Building Blocks” - narrowly edged out the other finalists due to her pitch of this innovative, practical and highly implementable business. Augusta’s vision related to a business that recycled plastic waste to produce an advanced, durable and tough building material with a mission to advance  sustainability and eco-friendly living in the building and construction industry while encouraging the protection of the environment.

Well done to all our finalists and a huge congratulations to Augusta on her NSW State win.
