Study Abroad and Exchange
Are you adventurous, keen to see something of the world, would like to experience another culture and continue your studies at the same time? You can take part in the University's highly successful Study Abroad & Exchange Program.
The Study Abroad & Exchange Program provides a range of international opportunities for students including semester exchanges and short-term experiences. The sky is the limit in terms of international destinations, with students venturing to a broad range of countries including Canada, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Honduras, India, Italy, Japan, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
The Student Exchange Program provides an opportunity to study for one or two semesters at one of our partner institutions. The idea behind the program is to give you an opportunity to experience student life at an overseas university and have that period of study credited to your degree program back in Newcastle. Students who participate in the program are liable under the HELP system, meaning that you don’t pay tuition to the overseas university.
Short-Term Experiences are international activities that usually take place during university holiday breaks and typically last between 2 and 8 weeks. Experiences could include overseas university courses, volunteering abroad, work placements, and conferences. There are literally hundreds of opportunities available for students to partake, some for credit and some for experience.
iLEAD participants can receive up to 60 points for participating in an overseas experience and could be eligible for travel grants, scholarships, complimentary travel insurance, and interest free loans.
