December FEDUA Flyer - From the PVC
This is the final 'From the PVC' and FEDUA Flyer for 2013. Thank you for all your contributions, story ideas and feedback throughout our first year.
I want to start by congratulating everyone in the Faculty who has helped us achieve enormous success over the past few months, particularly in regards to our excellent results winning $2.6 million of national competitive research funding from the ARC and NHMRC.
Hearty congratulations also goes to all those who have recently been recognised as winners of a range of awards, from the Vice-Chancellors Awards, to WIL Awards. I am proud of the breadth and depth of talent we have in the Faculty. We've included some articles below detailing the grant outcomes and award results, so please read on for more information.
On another note, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Professor Frank Millward, who has recently joined the Faculty and will officially take up the position of Head of the School of Creative Arts from 1st January 2014. View the latest PVC video blog to hear from Professor Millward.
In his most recent position as Professor of Music in the School of Fine Art at Kingston University in London, Professor Millward specialised in knowledge exchange, creative audio-visual practice and academic writing. He has a special interest in leveraging opportunities where the creative arts can realise commercial potential without compromising artistic integrity.
Professor Millward has produced a vast array of works for film, TV, theatre and multimedia productions combining visual material with sonic art, jazz, experimental, orchestral and electro-acoustic forms.
Throughout the remainder of 2013, Professor Millward will have the opportunity to meet with School, Faculty and wider University colleagues whilst also shadowing and undertaking a hand-over with the current Head of School as part of his local orientation and induction.
