Industry engagement and collaboration
Engagement with industry partners and productive collaborations are essential if UON’s world-class research is to translate into outcomes that will change the lives of individuals, the productivity of industry, or the economic health and sustainability of nations.
Newcastle Innovation provides the interface between the diverse UON portfolio of capabilities with industry, government and the community with the aim of solving problems.
Newcastle Innovation warmly invites UON staff (professional and academic) engaged in the industry engagement process on behalf of their UON department/school/centre’s researchers to become a part of the inaugural meeting of The UON Industry Engagement Networking Group.
Our first meeting will be held on 1 September 2017 | 2 – 4pm
Industry Development Centre, Newcastle Innovation Boardroom
RSVP to innovation@newcastle.edu.au
Please include: Name | Position |Department/School/Faculty/Centre
Afternoon Tea will be provided (please advise any dietary requirements)
The aim of the group is to bring together like-minded staff to discuss how we can best work together to provide coordinated industry engagement for researchers across the University. A case study will be used to explore how NI currently manages industry engagement to build ongoing research collaboration and commercialisation of UON-related intellectual property.
Future meetings will draw on expertise from around the University including:
- Intellectual property law and UON standards
- New invention disclosures
- Identifying external partners
- Managing the partner relationships
