Taree is on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, less than 4 hours north of Sydney, 2 hours north of Newcastle and 1 hour south of Port Macquarie. The Local Government Area of Greater Taree encompasses an area of 3,752 sq km and a population of approximately 48,000 residents.
Manning Rural Referral Hospital
Has specialist wards/units for surgery, day surgery, general medicine, critical care, obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency services, oncology, palliative care, rehabilitation, high dependency and mental health. Departments include Radiology, Ultrasound, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, ECG and Discharge Planning. Co-located with the hospital is the Taree Community Health Centre, Public Dental Clinic, Mental Health Service and Drug and Alcohol Service.
From the centre of Taree on the Manning River, you can visit beautiful coastal towns showcasing white sand beaches or quaint inland villages with their bustling markets and friendly locals. Swim, surf or fish your way across our 45 kilometers of pristine coastline and freshwater streams. Eat at one of the award winning cafes and restaurants, shop at one of our colourful local market, or watch whales and dolphins from the historic location of the Crowdy Head lighthouse.
Take a stroll or drive through one of our 9 National Parks and Reserves and be amazed by Ellenborough Falls, one of the longest single drop waterfalls in the southern hemisphere. The Barrington Tops are also a short drive away.
