Elite Athletes Pathway Program

The Elite Athletes Pathway Program (EAPP) is a FREE university pathway offered by the University of Newcastle for elite athletes who are part of a formal sporting organisation.

Designed to fit around training, competition and work commitments, the program recognises the learning athletes already complete through their sporting club and helps them build the academic skills needed to succeed at university.

How it works

  • Entry is based on a portfolio of learning as provided by the club and the student, and an interview
  • Available to athletes from sporting organisations with a formal MOU with the University
  • Delivered on campus and online.

What you’ll achieve

  • Complete 20 units (two courses) to build university‑ready skills
  • Receive a Certificate of Attainment from the University of Newcastle
  • Gain guaranteed entry to over 70 undergraduate degrees through the Guaranteed Entry Admission Scheme.*

*Please note that an additional 2 courses will be required for completion to qualify for assessment of eligibility for all degrees, including health degrees, excluding Podiatry. If you want access to all degrees, you can easily progress to Open Foundation - with your EAPP courses counting as credit.

The Elite Athletes Pathway Program forms part of the University of Newcastle’s long‑standing commitment to supporting elite athletes to achieve both academic and sporting success, with personalised support and flexible study arrangements throughout your pathway.
