Head of School, School of Psychology
Welcome to the School of Psychology. Our School provides a friendly, relaxed but challenging learning environment that focuses on achieving excellence in scholarship, teaching and research.
We offer the undergraduate Bachelor of Psychology program accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) at our Newcastle (Callaghan) and Central Coast (Ourimbah) campuses. Our postgraduate coursework programs provide professional training in clinical and health psychology and their value is demonstrated by the high demand for our graduates for employment in the health services.
Members of the School study a diverse range of topics from development in childhood and social influences on decision making, to the study of anxiety disorders and mental illness, the modelling of memory processes, and the study of personality and social learning.
In summary, the School is highly regarded because of its staff and its students. We offer a superb location for local, national and international students to study and our focus on excellence in research and teaching provides a highly valuable educational experience.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
