College of Engineering, Science and Environment High Achiever Scholarship

Establishment

This scholarship was established to recognise high achieving applicants and to encourage and support students entering bachelor degrees within the College of Engineering, Science and Environment (CESE).

Applicable to academic achievement, recent school leavers, STEM, science, architecture, construction, engineering, IT, computer science, data science, mathematics, biotechnology, psychological science, psychology, environmental science, coastal and marine science, development studies, food science

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:

• Be commencing in any bachelor degree within the College of Engineering, Science and Environment at the University of Newcastle.
• Have completed a Year 12 Higher School Certificate in the year prior to commencing your bachelor degree.
• Have a minimum base ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) or equivalent of 95 or higher, with adjustment factors NOT included.
• Maintain fulltime enrolment with a minimum of 80 units for the academic year, unless approved with special consideration.
• Be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident (including holders of a permanent humanitarian visa and New Zealand citizens with permanent residency).
• Not have previously received this scholarship.
• Not have received a University of Newcastle Academic High Performers Scholarship (for the Early Entry Program & Schools Recommendation Scheme, Year 12 School Leavers, Indigenous Year 12 School Leavers, Regional High School Dux or Enabling to Undergrad).

Benefit

This scholarship is for a term of one (1) year and has a total benefit of $5,000, paid as $2,500 in each semester.

Payments are typically received 2–3 weeks after the census date, or 2–3 weeks after you accept your offer if the census date has already passed.

Selection

No application is required for this scholarship.

Scholarships will be automatically awarded to eligible students based on a review of Semester 1 admissions data by the Scholarships Office.

Selection of scholars will be on the basis of academic merit, namely Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), and other criteria as outlined in the eligibility requirements for the scholarship.

Selection will be approved by one or more of the following member/s of the College:

• Pro Vice-Chancellor, College of Engineering, Science and Environment, or nominee and/or;

• General Manager, College of Engineering, Science and Environment.
