Key capabilities

We support teachers to deliver high quality teaching through evidence-based professional learning, focused on teaching, assessment and curriculum improvement and collaborative practice.

We design, implement and evaluate initiatives that strengthen school leadership, including executive and middle leaders, build women’s leadership capacity, and enhance school improvement programs.

We specialise in improving opportunities and outcomes for learners in geographically isolated, disadvantaged, and under-served communities.

We have research, professional development and outreach expertise in programs designed to encourage women’s and girls’ participation in education, particularly in STEM subject areas.

Our points of difference

In 2020, the TTRC launched a dedicated non-profit social enterprise that translated the Centre’s research into practice at scale across Australia and the world. The Quality Teaching Academy:

  • delivers powerful professional development,
  • translates research into practice,
  • advocates for the teaching profession,
  • supports a global community of like-minded teachers.

The Quality Teaching Academy has trained more than 5,300 teachers from 11 countries, producing high quality learning experiences for more than 900,000 students world-wide.

We are Australia’s foremost experts in delivering rigorous mixed-methods research in education, including randomised controlled trials, impact evaluation, and longitudinal studies to guide policy and program implementation.

Demonstrated research excellence:

  • $40 million+ in competitive research funding
  • 135+ publications
  • 30 PhD completions
  • Rare expertise in randomised controlled trials and large-scale education research
  • Transformative impact on teachers, students, schools, and education systems
  • Co-design
  • Capacity building
  • Evidence production
  • Sustainable, long-term impact

The TTRC has extensive experience in program design and implementation. We work collaboratively with education systems, schools and communities to ensure solutions are locally relevant, scalable, and sustainable, building long-term capability within partner organisations. This approach aligns with our focus on evidence-based practice, professional development, and school- and system-wide improvement.
