Leading the way in high quality, impactful educational research.

Who we are

Established in 2013 and led by Laureate Professor Jenny Gore, the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre (TTRC) is part of the  School of Education in the College of Human and Social Futures.

The TTRC has grown to a team of more than 40, including our core researchers, a large team of professional staff who support the various projects, Quality Teaching Rounds Advisers and PhD students.

Launched in October 2020, the Quality Teaching Academy translates our research to high-quality professional development for teachers and school leaders.

Our aims

Improve the quality of teaching and equitable outcomes for students
Our research seeks to drive improvement in the quality of teaching and student outcomes in all educational contexts particularly where inequities exist. We aim to increase access to higher education through understanding and nurturing students’ educational and occupational aspirations.

Enhance teacher well-being and professional engagement
We seek to promote teacher efficacy, morale and professional engagement through our rigorous research and powerful professional development.

Lead the field through rigorous, innovative and multi-disciplinary research
We bring the broad disciplinary and methodological expertise of our researchers to world-class studies which cover theory development and measurement, intervention conceptualisation and testing, implementation and knowledge transfer.

Translate research findings to drive educational reform
Our researchers lead the way in translating research findings to address issues at the forefront of national and international educational policy agendas.

Our research

TTRC conducts high quality, high impact research and research translation in the areas of:

  1. Pedagogical reform and professional development
  2. Aspirations and equity
