Research outcomes

At the completion of the project in three years, we expect to have:

  • A set of archival resources, oral histories and stories from young people and union collaborators in Newcastle who have learned the story of Dexter Daniels. These will be translated from English into Kriol and taken to Ngukurr Community to fulfill their expressed desire for access to their own histories and to form a catalyst for further collaborative story telling between Ngukurr and Newcastle communities.
  • High quality scholarly publications and a range of mainstream publications written and/or published in collaboration with community members. These articles will be translated into Kriol and made available to Ngukurr community members.
  • A series of lessons about the Dexter Daniel's story to be taught at Ngukurr school culminating in an illustrated Kriol book.
  • Other creative outputs which involve bringing history alive through a play, songs and/or a series of art works.
  • A living archive which preserves the material we discover and makes it accessible for future generations.
