Open Letter Right to Vote
On 21 May 2022, most adult Australians voted in the Federal Election. However, there is a whole section of our community who can be removed from the Electoral Roll and disallowed from having their say, people deemed to be of "unsound mind." The Centre for Law and Social Justice has joined the Australian Lawyers for Human Rights and 65 legal, disability and civil society organisations calling for action to protect the right of people with disability to vote in line with Australia's international human rights law obligations and recommendations for reform made by the Australian law Reform Commission (ALRC) in 2014.
