Australasian Human Rights Scholars' Network
Purpose Statement
The Australasian Human Rights Scholars’ Network (AHRSN) is a cross disciplinary network that welcomes human rights scholars across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Region.
The AHRSN aims to advance scholarly human rights knowledge with the intention of creating a community committed to research, training, and advocacy efforts. The cross-disciplinary network will bring together scholars from, but not limited to, law, social science, business, and education disciplines. The collaborative nature of the AHRSN aims to promote and supplement the work of existing networks, centres, and institutions committed to human rights.
Purpose
- Be a leading platform for the sharing of ideas and the convening of events and discussions;
- Advance research and teaching on human rights;
- Coordinate collaborative advocacy and media (eg joint law reform and inquiry submissions);
- Maintain a cross-disciplinary focus; and
- Foster transnational co-operation between scholars in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Region and broader international engagement.
