Human rights reform in Australia - ARC Industry Fellowship
Professor Amy Maguire, in partnership with the Australian Human Rights Commission, is pursuing a major research agenda titled 'How can Australia deliver its commitments to human rights reform? A research-policy alliance'. This project is funded by a four-year Australian Research Council mid-career industry fellowship (2025-2028). This project aims to:
1. Assess the progress and adequacy of human rights law reform in Australia across jurisdictions, providing critical legal analysis to inform government and parliament in policy- and law-making;
2. Design a national human rights index to measure Australia’s human rights performance and guide goal setting for the future; and
3. Translate research insights into new human rights education programs in the community and public sectors.
