War Crimes and the ICC
War Crimes and the ICC
Associate Professor Amy Maguire provides a brief history of the ICC and the role it has in bringing justice to victims in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute and specifically rejects the assertion of the ICC jurisdiction over its territory. However, in special cases the UN Security Council can refer cases to the ICC, and in that case, the duty to cooperate with the ICC extends to all UN member states.
