University recognised for ongoing efforts to achieve gender equality

The University of Newcastle has again been named an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.  This is the sixth consecutive year the University has been recognised by the Workplace for Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for progress in areas such as leadership, flexible working, preventing harassment and discrimination and targets for improving gender equality outcomes.

University of Newcastle Professor gives opening keynote at prestigious international conference

On 5 March 2015, University of Newcastle (UON) Sociologist Professor Lisa Adkins gave the opening keynote address to the annual conference of the Westermarck Society, the Finnish Sociological Association, held at the University of Helsinki before a record seven hundred delegates.
