Reconfiguring the Enterprise: Shifting Manufacturing Culture in Australia
Associate Professor Jenny Cameron, Professor Katherine Gibson (Western Sydney University, WSU); Dr Stephen Healy (WSU); Joanne McNeill (WSU)
This project is documenting what manufacturing could look like in Australia in the 21st century, with a focus on business practices that contribute directly to social and environmental wellbeing. The project is funded by the Australian Research Council through its Discovery Projects grant scheme (2016 to 2018). The research is based on case studies of manufacturers that are ‘doing business’ in innovative ways to address issues such as environmental responsibility, employee participation and social inclusion. The case studies are drawn from a range of industry sectors (e.g. food production, metal-working and materials reuse), and from a range of business types (including social enterprises, cooperatives and regular firms). For more information see Project Flyer.
