I have a background in cancer neurobiology – the crosstalk between tumours and the nervous system. The potential impact of cannabinoids within this space is most compelling. During my Honours project, we demonstrated that tumour ER stress is transmitted from cancer cells to neurons, thereby causing neuronal outgrowth. Consequently, ER stress appears to be central to tumour nerve infiltration which may subsequently increase proliferation, metastasis, and tumour specific pain
