MASTER

Our research team are advocating for a better way of coaching sport.  We would like to provide community sport coaches access to an educative and evidenced-based program (called MASTER Coaching) that suitably prepares them to confidently design and deliver high quality and enjoyable sporting programs for athletes.

We are currently working with a range of sports organisations in Australia and internationally to tailor our existing MASTER Coaching Program to suit the needs of sports organisations, their contexts, and their athletes. The MASTER Coaching Program has been successfully trialled in four formative studies and has demonstrated success in improving the quality of sports coaching, and increasing wellbeing, mental health, enjoyment, and game skill levels of junior athletes participating in sport (netball and soccer in Australia) and physical education (Chinese schools). The program is soon to be trialled as a coach education program in Gymnastics (in Ireland and Australia), and as a Teams Sports coaching program in Australia. It is also embedded in education courses at the University of Newcastle (Primary and Secondary Physical Education and sport EDUC3514, and Sports Coaching EDUC4014).
