The Global Innovation Centre for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN) is driven to be a creative, diverse and responsible world leader in transformational materials science and engineering. The Centre is dedicated to developing groundbreaking technologies and providing solutions to critical global issues through interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement with national and international academic and industry partners.
Fundamentally, the centre focuses on:
- Collaborating with national and international researchers to develop solutions for tackling significant global problems faced by communities around the world through the design and development of innovative advanced materials technologies;
- Building a vibrant and collegial research and educational environment that will drive the success of future advanced nanomaterials students from across all levels of education, from primary through to tertiary education studies;
- Further exploring the new and enabling technologies developed by the Centre’s leading material researchers by utilising the Centre’s unique and cutting-edge research infrastructure; and
- Working in collaboration with industry partners to translate basic and applied materials research into real commercial out-put through the development of a variety of market-ready products and services.
