Publish Financial Data
The University of Newcastle includes comprehensive financial data in the 2024 Annual Report and we have provided this in each previous report. This includes audited financial statements, a financial outline, budgetary details, consolidated group results as well as parent‑entity reporting. These are prepared in accordance with relevant standards and statutory requirements and are made publicly accessible on the University website.
Financial Data from 2024
Here are the key features from the 2024 Report that demonstrate transparency and the existence of financial publication:
- Annual Report 2024 scope & legal compliance
- The report covers the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.
- It is submitted in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Annual Reports (Statutory Bodies) Act 1984 and the Government Sector Finance Act 2018.
- Financial Statements section
- The report includes a Financial Statements section within Part Six: “Financial Performance” and "Financial Statements" (pages starting around 37).
- This includes audited information on operating income, operating expenses, and other financial performance metrics.
- Published financial & key performance metrics
- Key financial metrics are reported: total operating income, operating expenses, EBITDA, EBITDA margin, etc.
- Student load, domestic and international revenue, student retention, workforce productivity, health & safety KPIs are also reported – showing links between financials and operational performance.
- Transparency on controlled entities & capital works
- The Group structure and controlled entities are disclosed, including entities like NUservices Pty Ltd, NAIHE (Singapore), TUNRA, etc.
- Capital expenditure and key infrastructure projects are explained, with funding sources identified (e.g. Central Coast Campus Gosford, investment for student accommodation, etc.)
- Public availability
- The Annual Report 2024 is publicly available on the University website.
Financial Statements
The financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024 presented to the University Council have been prepared on a consolidated basis and include the results for the University of Newcastle and its controlled entities.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
