        Shared Sports Facilities
The University of Newcastle shares its sports and recreation facilities with the local community, including schools and the general public. In 2024, NUSport continued to be a leading provider of health, fitness, and sporting services, supporting students, staff, and community members alike.
With state-of-the-art facilities located across two scenic campuses, (Callaghan, Newcastle) NUSport fosters inclusive access to sport, health, and wellness. The facilities are regularly used by school sports teams, local football camps, walking groups, and community organisations. Activities include team tryouts, training sessions, and recreational use of squash courts, swimming pools, and indoor sports halls.
These shared spaces not only promote physical activity and wellbeing but also strengthen community ties and support our mission to encourage active lifestyles and holistic health across the region.

- 7-day access to the state-of-the-art gym and cardio and strength facilities
- 7-day access to the indoor 50 metre heated pool located at Callaghan Campus

Free Outdoor Gym:
The University also maintains a free access,24-hour, large outdoor gym that is available to students, staff, and the general public. There is an assortment of calisthenics equipment designed for strength training. It can be accessed via Ring Road.
