Men's and Women's groups
Our Men’s and Women’s Groups are culturally safe spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to come together, connect and create. Indigenous Nationals
The Indigenous Nationals (formerly known as the National Indigenous Tertiary Education Games) began as a class project at Wollotuka way back in 1996. It’s now developed into a week-long national showcase of Black sporting excellence, bringing together student-athletes from across the continent.
In 2025, the 29th Indigenous Nationals will be held at the University of Western Australia over in Perth. These games will see mixed competitions across four sports: touch football, basketball, netball, and volleyball. Reach out to the Student Advancement team at wollotuka@newcastle.edu.au if you’re interested in joining in.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
