Expressions of interest - UNSA senate and committee representatives

UNSA is seeking expressions of interest from students to be part of their committees and senates.

UNSA (the University of Newcastle Students’ Association) is the new association for all undergraduate and postgraduate students, studying at all campuses and online at the University of Newcastle. UNSA is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from students to be part of their committees and senates listed below. Senates and Committees will aim to meet twice a month initially, then reduce meeting frequency to once each month, depending on the amount of business. Representative roles on Senates or Committees would be until December 2020.

International Students’ Senate

The Senate is a focus point and forum for international student feedback on the educational needs, extra-curricular and out-of-class experiences of international students studying at the University of Newcastle. The Senate also assists in the planning, organisation and running of UNSA’s activities to support international students.

The Senate needs 14 Regional Representatives – two students (one of each gender) from each region (as defined by WHO): Africas; Americas; Eastern Mediterranean; Europe; South East Asia; and, the Western Pacific. The Senate will meet twice a month to begin, then may reduce meetings to just once each month.

Central Coast Campus Committee

The Committee is a focus point and forum for feedback on the educational needs, extra-curricular and out-of-class experiences of students enrolled in a program at the Ourimbah campus. The Committee also assists in the planning, organisation and running of UNSA’s activities that support Ourimbah based students.

To make up the Committee membership the Central Coast Campus Convenor is seeking:

  • two Postgraduate Student Representatives (one Coursework, one Research);
  • five Undergraduate Representatives (one from each Faculty);
  • one International Student Representative; and,
  • one Enabling Representative (from either Newstep or Open Foundation).

Sydney Campus Committee

The Committee is a focus point and forum for feedback on the educational needs, extra-curricular and out-of-class experiences of Sydney Campus students.  The Committee also assists in the planning, organisation and running of UNSA’s activities that support Sydney Campus students.

The Campus Convenor is seeking four Faculty Representatives (two from the Faculty of Business and Law and two from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment) as well as one ELICOS Representative to make up the Committee membership.

Cloud Campus Committee

The Committee is a focus point and forum for feedback on the educational needs, extra-curricular and out-of-class experiences of online students at the University of Newcastle. The Committee also assists in the planning, organisation and running of UNSA’s activities that support online students.

The Cloud Campus Convenor is seeking one Bachelor of Construction Management Representative and five Faculty Representatives (one from each faculty) to make up the Committee membership.
