Australia's first Circular Economy Living Lab finalist for Green Gown Awards Australiasia
We’re excited to announce that our partnership with Lake Macquarie City Council and Dantia that led to the establishment of Australia’s first Circular Economy Living Lab is a finalist in the 2022 Green Gown Awards Australasia.
The Hunter Circular Economy Living Lab, or CELL, provides a real-life environment to test ideas with local industries and communities that have the potential to transform the economy from linear (take-use-waste) to circular (reuse-recycle-redesign-return).
CELL’s purpose is to grow a circular economy by cultivating innovation, building capacity, and providing leadership for the decarbonisation of the economy.
CELL is a strategic partnership between Lake Macquarie City Council, Dantia and the University of Newcastle (overseen by the Institute for Regional Futures). The initiative has been shortlisted in the Powerful Partnerships category of the Green Gown Awards Australasia.
The awards are the only scheme dedicated to recognising excellence in sustainability in the tertiary education sector in Australasia.
The winners of the 2022 Green Gown Awards Australasia will be announced on 17 November.
