New preparation program gives students a hand-UPP
Domestic students transitioning into their undergraduate degree in 2021 will have access to free personalised learning support thanks to an initiative at the University of Newcastle.
2020 has been a very difficult year for high school students, particularly those undertaking Year 12. Responding to feedback from high school teachers and Year 12 students in our regions, the University developed the new NUPrep Plus: University Preparation Program (UPP) for students starting their studies in 2021. Students will participate in orientation activities where they can meet other commencing students as well as our academic mentors.
Available online and on-campus, the program will help students make a successful transition to university by providing free bridging and refresher courses during an extended orientation period. It also provides ongoing support during the first six weeks of their degree to help boost their confidence, increase their knowledge of their discipline and develop their academic skills.
Students can register their interest at www.newcastle.edu.au/UPP before 20 January, 2021 to commence the program 1 February, 2021.
