I Tried To Make A Horizon For You - Lottie Consalvo
Lottie Consalvo
Consalvo’s practice holds deep reverence for the mind and its capacities both within and outside of reality. Pushing ideas beyond our imaginings into places unknown and ungraspable.
Video and performance are the arteries that make physical our inner and metaphysical presence, engaging our own visceral responses to existence. The works in this important survey have been developed since 2011 and many made in Newcastle, NSW.
In this collection ‘I Tried to Make a Horizon for You’, the artist attempts to reverse time, to make the intangible physical, to reach into places beyond the real and into oblivion. The selected videos, performances and stills offer a quiet transience – an afterimage formed from responses long embedded in imagination and memory through performative and filmic expressions of the unknown, the psychological and the emotional.
