Sydney ResBaz 2018

This event was held on Tuesday 3 July 2018

Sydney ResBaz 2018

ResBaz is a worldwide festival run by volunteers that aims to promote the digital literacy emerging at the center of modern research. ResBaz allows researchers from many different disciplines to meet, learn and share knowledge in a collaborative and informal environment.

The first Research Bazaar was held in 2015 at the University of Melbourne. It was so successful that it has inspired similar events in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and internationally.

This year’s Sydney event will be hosted by Macquarie University on 3-5 July. Sixteen free courses will be delivered by expert trainers covering data cleaning and analysis, project management, digital humanities and computer programming. Classes will be led by a number of experienced programmers, technologists, data scientists and researchers, so there will be plenty of support as you navigate the three days with your peers. More information can be found here: resbaz.github.io/resbaz2018/sydney.

Who should attend?

Researchers at all levels from all disciplines. Research technologists who support researchers are also encouraged to attend.

ResBaz is particularly aimed at those new to digital research tools.

What you will get from the experience

  • Skills in using a particular tool or tools for research, depending on which classes you choose
  • The fun of learning in a collaborative, peer-to-peer environment
  • Opportunities to discuss your research and any challenges you might be facing with specialists
