Startup Stories - Peter Tippett (NOW Functions)

This event was held on Thursday 16 August 2018

Starting with a database driven accounting system for the Macintosh in 1986, then an interface to link Excel and Web server in 1996, Peter Tippett has been building technology products and companies around them for the last 35 years.

His more recent project, Raporr, was born from his desire to connect and empower teams of people by creating a better way to communicate than the existing group messaging model. Having been a volunteer surf life saver, seeing how disconnected they were while on duty was something he could fix and has since grown the company to address the underserved ‘desk free’ workforce.

Previous to Raporr, Peter cofounded iPowow, a company giving TV viewers the power to interact with their favourite show and to affect the story, and media producers the ability to drive higher levels of engagement. Peter and his team have expanded iPowow across the world and receiving numerous awards and accolades along the way.

Join us at I2N Hub Hunter Street to hear Peter’s rich story as a founder, as he gives insight into the trials each startup must endure.

Event is free but bookings essential - book here.

About Startup Stories

Startup Stories takes place every Thursday from 8am at the University of Newcastle's coworking space I2N Hub Hunter Street. Startup founders talk candidly about their experience as an entrepreneur and business owner – the highs, the lows, the wins, the mistakes, the whole enchilada. Startup Stories provides real-life examples of the different stages of the startup journey, creating a forum for startups to share and learn but also for the community to see tangible evidence of entrepreneurship making a difference in our region. #i2nStartupStories
