Startup Stories - Lewis Quill (Obelisk Systems)
Lewis Quill
Founded in 2016, Obelisk Systems came about after 5 friends realised the disconnect between schools and STEM related industries. Lewis Quill and his cofounders set out to create a ‘cool piece of tech’ and along the way developed a full STEM education platform they call StarLAB. With input from teachers throughout the development process, StarLAB is an all-in-one teaching solution for years 9 and 10 students in Australia. The innovative platform includes the hardware, software and online components to engage students with robotics, coding and computer programming and is an out-of-the-box solution teachers can use with no prior training.
Since July 2016, the platform has been adopted by more than 50 schools and 1000 students in NSW, the ACT and Queensland, with the team continuing to expand their footprint and refine the product. The Obelisk Systems team recently announced a joint partnership with Newcastle City Council and RDA Hunter to bring their cutting edge StarLAB platform to 35 primary schools in Newcastle throughout 2018 and 2019.
Join us for Startup Stories and hear from Lewis Quill as he tells the Obelisk Systems story and how he and his team are disrupting and enriching STEM education across Newcastle and the Country.

About Startup Stories
Startup Stories takes place every Thursday from 8am at the University of Newcastle's coworking space I2N Hub Hunter Street. Startup founders talk candidly about their experience as an entrepreneur and business owner – the highs, the lows, the wins, the mistakes, the whole enchilada. Startup Stories provides real-life examples of the different stages of the startup journey, creating a forum for startups to share and learn but also for the community to see tangible evidence of entrepreneurship making a difference in our region. #i2nStartupStories
