Chris Holmes
Chris Holmes is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Single Cell, a Sydney based SaaS company. Starting as an Economist, Chris moved through numerous consulting roles before deciding to start his own business. Created in 2010 with fellow Novocastrian Andre Pinkowski, Single Cell started as a Consulting company in the ACT, focusing on driving transformation and efficiency across Government. Identifying a gap in the market Single Cell pivoted entirely to a software development start-up.
Chris and Andre relocated the company to Sydney and redefined the organisation entirely. As a start-up, the duo spent the next 12 months developing and commercialising a completely different product for their dynamic market. Named ‘Progenitor’ they have created a new wave in Strategic Procurement and Contract Management solutions, providing an agile, fresh approach to an old problem. Chris and the Single Cell team have adapted Progenitor to fit their customer’s business model and organisational requirements, with personalisation at the products core.
Since then Single Cell has gone from strength to strength, with rapid growth in Australia and New Zealand. Join us at I2N Hub Hunter Street to hear Chris story of his life as an economist, consultant and entrepreneur, and what he sees in the future for this exciting scale up.

Startup Stories takes place every Thursday from 8am at the University of Newcastle's coworking space I2N Hub Hunter Street. Startup founders talk candidly about their experience as an entrepreneur and business owner – the highs, the lows, the wins, the mistakes, the whole enchilada.
