Masterclass with award-winning writer Tishani Doshi
Tishani Doshi
Award-winning writer, poet and dancer Tishani Doshi leads masterclass at the University of Newcastle, with the support of the Newcastle Writers Festival.
This masterclass is directed at HDR students from the Creative Writing stream, however we welcome all HDR students from HASS and Creative Industries to RSVP and join us if you are interested in hearing about the writing process of an international author with a background in dance.
Tishani Doshi is an award-winning writer and dancer of Welsh-Gujarati descent. Born in Madras, India, in 1975, she received a Masters in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins University, and worked in London in advertising, before returning to India in 2001, where a chance encounter with the choreographer Chandralekha led her to an unexpected career in dance.
Tishani Doshi’s most recent books include a collection of poems, Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods (shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award) and a novel, Small Days and Nights (Bloomsbury).
