ASPERA CONFERENCE
The ASPERA conference is an annual opportunity for academics, filmmakers and postgraduate students to present and discuss their ideas, projects, teaching & research as they relate to the field of contemporary screen production.
The 11th Annual Conference of the Australian Screen Production Education & Research Association (ASPERA), will be held at the University of Newcastle on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th and Friday 20th June 2014.
The conference convenors invite papers, panels and topics for roundtable discussion, interactive workshops, poster presentations and micro talks (5 minute presentations) that address the following theme (with other ideas also being considered):
- Screen Explosion: Expanding practices, narratives and education for the
Creative Screen Industries
Personal or shared, networked, broadcast, cinematic or virtual we participate and are surrounded by an explosion of screens, screen narratives, practices and cultures. This conference aims to celebrate the multiplicity of screens and the impact they have on production and output in the Creative Screen Industries. We invite you to consider how traditional creative screen practices are endorsed, challenged, changed and reconstituted by the diversity of large and small screens, that are now common in our everyday lives.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
