Newcastle Law School’s Centre for Law and Social Justice, in collaboration with CIFAL Newcastle, is convening a HDR Roundtable event on social justice and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This roundtable is part of a calendar of events forming the inaugural Newcastle Social Justice Festival.

Are you a HDR candidate whose project relates to social justice and/or the SDGs?

If so, please express interest in joining this roundtable event to share your research with supportive peers from across disciplines. The goals of this event are to:

  • Grow inter-disciplinary networks among HDR students;
  • Build awareness of the variety of HDR projects at the University of Newcastle relating to social justice and the SDGs; and
  • Provide an opportunity for HDR candidates to present on their work in an informal, supportive environment.

All participants at the roundtable event will be invited to speak for five minutes about their project. Stimulus questions will be provided to support the development of short presentations.

This event will be convened by Associate Professor Amy Maguire, co-Director of the Centre for Law and Social Justice. Distinguished Laureate Professor Rob Sanson-Fisher, Executive Director of CIFAL Newcastle, will act as a discussant for the roundtable. Following the roundtable discussion, participants will be welcomed to a networking morning tea.

To express interest in participating, please email SocialJustice@newcastle.edu.au by 28 August.

Please include the following information:

  • Discipline of enrolment
  • Names and email addresses of supervisors
  • Thesis topic
  • A one sentence statement of how your project relates to social justice and/or the SDGs

We hope to welcome many HDR candidates from across the University to participate in this exciting event!
