Australian Forensic Psychology Symposium

This event was held on Thursday 28 September 2023

The Australian Forensic Psychology Symposium will uniquely bring together academics, researchers, practitioners, and legal professionals to better understand the role of psychology in tackling complex problems within the Australian legal landscape. The event will consist of two components: an in-person symposium and networking event to be held at the University of Newcastle NuSpace campus, followed by the zoom-hosted Australian Forensic Psychology Online Conference.

In-person component:
We will soon call for abstracts for individual 15-minute talks for the in-person symposium and networking event. We welcome talks related to any area of the law that take a psychological focus. We also encourage talks of several kinds, including (but not limited to) presentation of research findings, case studies, and commentaries. The in-person component will run from 9.30am - 1pm.

Online component:
We will soon release our program of invited talks for the Australian Forensic Psychology Online Conference. We will offer parallel streams of talks, focused on specific advances in forensic psychology and/or associated challenges. Speakers will present live (via zoom), with recording of talks to be made available afterwards. The online component will run from 2pm - 5pm.
